Runner Up - UK Mountain Photo of the Year

On 21 January I was awarded the runner up prize in the UK Mountain Photo of the Year. As a person who doesn't normally enter photo competitions (I never consider my work good enough) I was delighted. The competition is more about placing a person in the landscape and my shot of Dave Miles and his tent on a spur of the mountain Cul Mor in the North West Highlands certainly does that. I like the shot as it gives real perspective - the tiny figure with his tent against the immense backdrop of the mountains of Coigach and Assynt.

In shot are Cul Beag in the background of Dave and his tent, the pointed peak of the Fiddler (Sgurr an Fhidhleir) in the distance, with Stac Pollaidh on the right.

Is it my best landscape photograph - possibly/probably not - but I like it all the same.
